Poor marketing harms ‘Swarnam’

‘Swarnam’ seems to be one good movie that appeared in Mollywood after quite a long time. Even though it has got its share of flaws, the movie based on a strong script lines by S Suresh Babu definitely proves to be one of best from Mani and director Venugopan.

But the problem that the movie is facing now is that it is currently placed at the lower end of the Box Office charts, primarily due to its poor marketing decisions. The movie was released on May 1, a holiday with the least of the newsprint publicity. The very next day's national bandh also had an effect on the movie's collections as many in the circuit were not aware of such a release ‘Swarnam' even didn't fetch the characteristic Mani initial, as much of his fans were filled with a prejudice that the movie was a classy one with no fights or songs.

With restrictions on newspaper advertisements instituted by various associations and too less television promotions, the movie may find it hard to climb up the ladder of audience approval. It is high time that its marketing department , and off course, the entire film fraternity get aware of the destruction that are caused to their films, primarily due to lack of publicity, especially through newspapers. It’s worth remembering that making good films itself don't survive the industry, but what matters is how they sell?
